Lojistik Sektöründe Covıd- 19 Pandemisinin Kurumsal Sürdürebilirlik Performansına Etkisinin Araştırılması: FedEx Örneği

Günümüzde teknolojisinin hızla gelişmesiyle ürün talep ve satışlarında dramatik değişimler meydana gelmektedir. Bu gelişmeler üretici ve tüketicileri farklı bölge, ülke ve kıtalardaki pazarlara yöneltmektedir. Bundan dolayı üretici ve tüketici arasındaki taşıma faaliyetleri muazzam büyüklükte artış göstermektedir. Bu durum lojistik sektörünün ve şirketlerinin önemini her geçen gün arttırmaktadır. Tüm dünyayı etkileyen COVID-19 pandemisi şüphesiz lojistik şirketlerini de etkilemiştir. Bu çalışma COVID-19 pandemisinin lojistik sektöründe şirketlerin kurumsal sürdürülebilirlik performansları üzerindeki etkilerini araştırmaktadır. Bu amaçla FedEx şirketinin 2017-2021 periyodunda 5 yıllık kurumsal sürdürülebilir raporları analiz edilmiştir. Analiz verileri şirketin web sitesindeki sürdürülebilirlik raporlarından alınmıştır. Kurumsal sürdürülebilirlik performansı; ekonomik, sosyal ve çevresel sürdürülebilirlik performansları olarak üç ayakta incelenmiştir. Sürdürülebilirlik indikatörlerinin önem düzeylerini belirlemede Entropi ağırlıklandırma yöntemi tercih edilmiştir. Şirketin yıllara göre kurumsal sürdürülebilirlik başarılarının sıralamasında ise MARCOS yöntemi kullanılmıştır.

Investigation of the Impact of Covid-19 Pandemic on Corporate Sustainability Performance in the Logistics Industry: FedEx Example

With the rapid development of today's technology, dramatic changes occur in product demand and sales. These developments lead producers and consumers to markets in different regions, countries and continents. Therefore, the transportation activities between the producer and the consumer increase tremendously. This situation increases the importance of the logistics sector and companies day by day. The COVID-19 pandemic, which affects the whole world, has also affected logistics companies. This study investigates the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on the corporate sustainability performance of companies in the logistics industry. For this purpose, 5-year corporate sustainability reports of FedEx company for the 2017-2021 period were analyzed. Analysis data is taken from the sustainability reports on the company's website. Corporate sustainability performance is examined in three titles as economic, social and environmental sustainability performances. Entropy method was preferred in determining the importance levels of sustainability indicators. The MARCOS method was used to rank the company's corporate sustainability achievements by years.
